WACO, Texas – The UTSA women's tennis team was swept by No. 42 Baylor, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
The Bears took an early 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point. The pair of Eva Beyebach and Adeliya Mukhutdinova fell to Baylor's Liubov Kostenko/Danielle Tuhten at the third court by 6-0, before Alexandra Weir and Fatima Gutierrez fell to the Bears' Alina Shcherbinina and Brooke Thompson by 6-1 at the second court.
In singles play, the Bears swept all six points. Weir fell to No. 95 Isabella Harvison by both sets of 6-1 at the second court. Zlatarova then fell at the top spot to No. 90 Shcherbinina by set scores of 6-3 and 6-2. Tuells dropped the No. 5 spot to Tuhten by 6-0 and 6-4 as the Bears clinched their winning fourth point.
Mukhutdinova lost the fourth court to Baylor's Daniella Dimitrov by both sets of 6-2. Gutierrez the fell at the third spot by 6-2 and 6-4 to the Bears' Kostenko. At the last court, Beyebach fell to Thompson by set scores of 6-3 and 6-2 as UTSA fell to Baylor by 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.
UTSA's record falls to 12-9 overall, while No. 24 Baylor improves to 13-11.
UP NEXT: The Roadrunners return home for Senior Day, hosting Houston on Sunday at 1 p.m. The team will recognize senior captain Keegan McCain and all her contributions to the program during the senior ceremony.
