Three Roadrunners earn Conference USA postseason recognition

SAN ANTONIO – Three members of the UTSA men's basketball team were honored with postseason recognition on Tuesday afternoon, it was announced by the league office.

Seniors Jacob Germany and Japhet Medor both earned Honorable Mention All-Conference while DJ Richards was named to the All-Freshman team. It marks the first postseason awards for both Medor and Richards while Germany picks up his second-straight postseason honor.

Medor becomes just the second Roadrunner to earn Honorable Mention in Conference USA, joining Germany, and the seventh all-time member from UTSA. Germany meanwhile collected his second-straight C-USA Honorable Mention as he was the only Roadrunner last season who earned postseason recognition.

Richards becomes the fifth Roadrunner to be named to the All-Freshman team in Conference USA, joining Jordan Ivy-Curry, Keaton Wallace, Jhivvan Jackson and Byron Frohnen. Richards was a two-time Freshman of the Week recipient this year, earning both of his awards in December.

The Roadrunners' three total postseason awards are tied for the second-most during their Conference USA tenure. The three 2023 recipients join the 2021 recipients (Jackson, Wallace and Ivy-Curry) and sit just behind the six award winners in 2018.

Japhet Medor leads the Roadrunners in points per game (13.4) as well as assists (105) and steals (43). He ranks in the top 10 of all C-USA scorers in points scored, assists and steals. Medor leads the league in free throws made and free throws attempted.

Jacob Germany has nine double-doubles on the season and leads the team in rebounding (8.3) while also coming in second in scoring (12.4). Germany is tied for the league lead in rebounding and also ranks in the top ten of blocks and free throws made.

DJ Richards averages 10.4 points per game as the rookie out of Houston started the season as the sixth man before earning a starting role and holding it since November. Richards is second on the team in rebounding and (4.6) and shoots 33% from deep.

The Roadrunners (10-21, 4-16 C-USA) will return to action on Wednesday in the first round of the 2023 Conference USA Championships at The Star in Frisco, facing Rice at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN+ and Ticket 760 AM.
