UTSA to travel to College Station for 44 Farms Team Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA track & field teams will travel to College Station to compete in the 44 Farms Team Invitational this Friday-Saturday, April 8-9, at E.B. Cushing Stadium on the Texas A&M campus.
 
The Roadrunners will line up against athletes from Baylor, Houston, Houston Baptist, Prairie View A&M, Purdue, Rice, Sam Houston, SMU, Texas A&M, Texas Southern, Texas State, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and UT Tyler.
 
The two-day meet is scheduled to get underway at 12:15 p.m. Friday with the first event in the women's heptathlon. Field events will start at 2 p.m. and track events are slated for an 8 p.m. start.
 
Saturday's action will begin at 10 a.m. with the second day of events in the multis, followed by field events at 3 p.m. and running events at 6:30 p.m.
 
Live video coverage will be available on ESPN+ beginning at 8 p.m. Friday and at 6:30 p.m. Saturday
 
UTSA is coming off a strong showing last Saturday at the Roadrunner Invitational with 10 event wins and 36 podium finishes at the second home meet of the outdoor season.
 
Lacee Barnes led the way with a pair of victories, as the senior from the Cayman Islands turned in a career-best mark of 15.53 meters (50-11.5) in the women's shot put to finish as the top collegian. She also claimed top honors in the discus with a 51.65m (169-5) measurement, just one inch shy of her personal best of 51.67m (169-6) registered two weeks ago at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
 
Other gold-medal performances included Ingeborg Gruenwald (long jump), Marilis Remmel (javelin) and Alanah Yukich (100m hurdles) for the women and Jorge Ayala (shot put), Jonathan Barraza (pole vault), Christiaan Le Roux (long jump), Mike Roth (200m) and Grant Szalek (high jump) for the men.
