UTSA drops 5-2 match to Gonzaga

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's tennis team was defeated 5-2 by Gonzaga Thursday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.
 
The Roadrunners claimed the doubles point for an early 1-0 lead. Aleksandra Zlatarova and Keegan McCain defeated their opponent 6-4 at No. 1. Jasmin Starr and Sophie Omoworare claimed a victory at No. 2 with a 6-4 defeat of their opponents.
 
The Bulldogs came back from a 1-0 deficit to win the match in singles play. At No. 2, Starr won the only singles match for UTSA with a 6-3, 6-3 win. Omoworare fell to her opponent 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5. At No. 4, Eva Beyebach dropped a 6-1, 6-3 match. Stanislava Bobrovnikova was topped by her opponent 6-3, and 7-6 (4) in a tie-breaking second set. Zlatarova was victorious in the first set of her match, but her opponent claimed the second and third sets, 7-6 (3), 6-1 to clinch the match.
 
The Roadrunners will return to the court on March 13 at 1 p.m. to host Liberty at the UTSA Tennis Center.
