Roadrunners upended by Lady Demons

NATCHITOCHES, La. – The UTSA women's tennis team was upended 6-1 by Northwestern State Friday afternoon at the Jack Fisher Lady Demon Complex.
 
The Lady Demons got the early advantage with the doubles point. A forfeited match at No. 3 followed by a 6-2 win over Sophie Omoworare and Eva Beyebach, Northwestern State led the match 1-0. Aleskandra Zlatarova and partner Jasmin Starr claimed their doubles match in a close 6-4 battle.
 
Starr claimed the only singles point for the Roadrunners at No. 2. Stanislava Bobrovnikova was defeated by her opponent 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3. Omoworare was beat in a close first set, 7-5, against her opponent before losing a 6-2 second set. Zlatarova pushed her opponent to a three-set match. Her opponent claimed the first set, 6-3, but Zlatarova won a tie breaking 7-5 second set before dropping the third, 6-1. Beyebach pushed for a tiebreaking first set, 7-6 (3) but was unable to overcome her opponent for a third set after a 6-3 loss.
 
The Roadrunners will return to the court Saturday morning at 11 a.m. to face the Southern Miss Golden Eagles at the Jack Fisher Lady Demon Complex in Natchitoches, La.
