UTSA hosts red hot Louisiana Tech on Saturday

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA men's basketball will wrap up its three-game homestand with a matchup against 12-win Louisiana Tech, with tip-off slated for 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Convocation Center in a game broadcast live on ESPN+ and Ticket 760 AM. 
 
UTSA (7-8, 0-2 Conference USA) has played two consecutive games at home and are coming off a 74-73 loss to Southern Miss on Thursday night at the Convocation Center. The Roadrunners had a chance to win the game as time expired but the attempt at the game-winning bucket in the paint just rimmed out. 
 
The Roadrunners are led in scoring by sophomore guard Jordan Ivy-Curry, who sports 14.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Junior center Jacob Germany averages 14.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Senior forward Cedrick Alley Jr. averages 9.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. 
 
As a team, UTSA is averaging 69.9 points, 40.8 rebounds, 11.4 assists and 6.5 steals per game, shooting 38.4 percent as a team from the field and 29.2 percent from range. Opponents are shooting 44.3 percent and 34.0 percent from 3-point distance. 
 
Louisiana Tech leads the all-time series with UTSA, 14-7, including an 8-4 mark in games played in San Antonio. The Bulldogs swept the series last year in Ruston, posting a 77-66 win in the opener and an 82-66 win in the finale. UTSA last won in 2019-20, in San Antonio, 89-73. 
 
Louisiana Tech (12-3, 3-0 C-USA) comes into the matchup with UTSA having won four straight games, including a 64-52 win at UTEP on Thursday and a sweep of games vs. Marshall and Western Kentucky last weekend in Ruston. The Bulldogs own only three losses on the year, at Alabama, at NC State and vs. LSU. 
 
As a team, LA Tech is averaging 79 points, 38.2 rebounds, 15.1 assists, 6.9 steals and 2.4 blocks per game. LA tech is shooting 46.4 percent from the field and 32 percent from distance, with foes hitting at 40.7 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from 3-point range. 
 
The Bulldogs are led by 2020-21 C-USA Freshman of the Year Kenneth Lofton Jr., who averages 17.1 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Amorie Archibald averages 13.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game while Isaiah Crawford sports 11.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in just three games. Keaton Willis averages 10.9 point and 4.0 rebounds per game. Cobe Williams chips in 9.7 points per game.
