Question: How does it feel that your teammates voted for you to wear the No. 1 jersey?
Jaylon Haynes: It's an honor to gain the respect of the underclassmen. I hope that by wearing No. 1 that I can guide them in the right direction. By me doing what I'm supposed to do, on and off the field, I think this makes me a good leader.
Q: I see you're majoring in multidisciplinary studies. How are you wanting to use this degree?
JH: Most likely, I see myself becoming a coach. Along with playing football since the age of 4, I played basketball and baseball, so I wouldn't mind coaching for any of these sports.
Q: What hobbies do you have outside of football?
JH: I like to walk my bully, Roscoe. I have a dog park in my apartment complex that I take him to. I also like to go to the pool and listen to music.
Q: Is there something about you that shocks people when they get to know you?
JH: I feel like my mentality and how I go about things surprises others. My mindset is set to conqueror. No matter what adversities come my way, I always find a way to overcome them and get the job done.
Q: Overall, what are your top three movies or shows?
JH: I would say Friday, Narcos and Queen of the South
Q: Who inspires you on and off the field and why?
JH: My father. The reason is because he is a good person and ever since I could remember, he taught me to always keep God first and to always trust in Him no matter what. My dad will be walking with me on the field for senior night.
Q: What does your pregame routine look like?
JH: I FaceTime my 2-year-old son before each game. I also listen to Young Dolph and Sauce Walka.
Q: What advice would you give to your high school self?
JH: I would tell him to not take the moment he is in for granted, because you never know what could happen. Also, to introduce himself to more people because it is important to be well connected.
