Unbeaten Texas Tech snaps UTSA’s win streak in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas – Unbeaten Texas tech snapped UTSA soccer's four-game winning streak by netting a trio of goals off corner kicks in a 3-0 win over the Roadrunners, on Sunday night at the John Walker Soccer Complex.

UTSA (4-2-0) battled a Texas Tech team which controlled the tempo for most of the game. The Roadrunners allowed one goal in the first half in the 30th minute, and two in the second at the 65th and 70th minute mark. All three Red Raider goals were scored following a corner kick set.

"Texas Tech is hte best team we have played so far this season," UTSA head coach Derek Pittman said. "Our players executed our game plan very well and didn't give up a goal through the run of play. All three goals came off various phases of set plays and that is something we can fix. I'm proud of our players for competing for 90 minutes with a top team. We will learn from this and prepare better for Lamar on Friday at home."

Texas Tech (5-0-1) held a 15-2 lead in total shots as well as a 7-0 advantage in shots on goal. The Red Raiders also held the lead in corner kicks on the night, with a 9-1 tally.

Jil Schneider saved four goals on the night in 90 minutes, while Red Raider keeper Madison White posted a shutout.

Scoring goals on the night for Texas Tech were Hannah Anderson (30' & 70') and Kirsten Davis (65'). The Red Raiders had one assist, which came from Macy Blackburn.

UTSA will look to bounce back this week as they play host to Lamar on Friday, which is a part of the Drury Hotels Invite. The match will be the second of the day and will begin at 7:30 p.m. That game will be played at the Park West Athletics Complex and will be streamed on CUSA TV.
