Roadrunners ready for Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's golf team will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to compete in the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship at Cherokee Country Club (par 71/5,946 yards).

The Roadrunners will line up against Augusta, BYU, Charlotte, Chattanooga, College of Charleston, Eastern Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Kent State, Maryland, Mercer, Miami, Middle Tennessee, South Dakota State, Texas Tech, host Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

The field will play 36 holes on Monday starting with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start and the final round is slated for Tuesday.

UTSA is coming off a ninth-place finish at the season-opening Sam Golden Invitational last week in Denton, Texas. Hunter Nugent paced the Roadrunners by firing an 8-under-par 208 (70-71-67) to tie for 10th, while Nicole Polivchak carded a 1-under 215 (70-72-73) to grab a share of 28th.

The Roadrunners last played in the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship in 2019, finishing 11th behind a third-place performance from Ana Gonzalez, who posted a 7-under 206 (71-67-68), tied for the sixth-best 54-hole total in the tournament's history. In 2017, she recorded a 205, which is the second-best score in Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship annals.
