SAN ANTONIO – Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) each won his seventh singles match of the season, leading UTSA men's tennis to a 4-1 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, on Thursday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
UTSA (8-5) posted a 4-1 win over the Islanders (12-4) in its return home after a three-match road swing through Oklahoma last week.
The Roadrunners opened strong with a sweep of the doubles point, as Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) and Slava Gulin (Moscow, Russia) posted a 6-1 win on court 2, Sebastian Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) and Ceolin posted a 6-0 win on court 1.
In singles, Sebastian Rodriguez posted a 6-1, 6-0 win on court 2, with Ceolin improving to 7-3 with a 6-2, 6-3 win on court 3. Javier Rodriguez (Trujullo, Peru) had a 6-2, 6-3 win on court 5 and Garrett Skelly (The Woodlands, Texas) posted a 6-2, 6-5 win on court 6.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Saturday, venturing across town to take on UIW at 11 a.m.
