LAS VEGAS – The UTSA women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Florida Atlantic Saturday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex at UNLV.
"Tough match today, we had our chances," head coach Ki Kroll said. "We definitely have to bring more energy from the start. Overall we fought hard and will have to learn from this tough loss.
At No. 1, Jasmin Starr and Keegan McCain won their doubles match with a 6-2 victory, but FAU won the No. 2 and 3 spots to take the doubles point.
In singles, the Owls quickly won three singles (No. 3, 5 and 6) matches to clinch the match as three matches went unfinished. Jasmin was in her third set (3-6, 7-5, 4-1) at No. 1. Aleksandra Zlatarova was also in a third set (6-3, 4-6, 3-3) at No. 3 and at No. 4, Alexandra Weir was up in a third set, 6-3, 5-7, 3-0.
The Roadrunners closeout this trip tomorrow when they face UNLV at 11 a.m. CT.
