UTSA adds mid-year transfer

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA head soccer coach Derek Pittman announced the addition on mid-year transfer Alissa Stewart to the team.

Hometown: Burlington, Ontario
High school: Frank J. Hayden Secondary
Previous school: Mississippi State
Club team: Burlington Bayhawks
 
Quote from Pittman on Stewart: "We are very happy to being adding Alissa to our roster for this spring. Her character, commitment and talent will be great additions to our team. She has the ability to play in the midfield or in the back line which will be a strong area of competition on within our lineup. Alissa is a quality athlete with a range of passing ability, strength in the air and overall soccer IQ that will benefit our team. She brings a competitive mentality to our group having competed at a an extremely high level in the SEC and back home in Ontario, Canada. She is a great person and we can't wait for her to get settled in to our culture and environment."
 
Bio: Transferred from Mississippi State … played in eight matches in 2019 … posted one shot at Kentucky and played 129 minutes for the Bulldogs … in high school, served as team captain … team finished as OFSAA silver medalists and Halton Champions in 2018 … named team MVP in 2017 … played club soccer for the Burlington Bayhawks … Bayhawks went undefeated in their league in 2018 while outscoring opponents 31-0 to win the Ontario Cup and earn a bronze medal at the national championships … team's only losses that season were to U.S. Division I colleges … club team won the 2017 OPDL Cup and took home bronze from the Disney Showcase … chosen as her school's 2019 Female Athlete of the Year … also played field hockey and volleyball in high school.
