SAN ANTONIO -- The UTSA men's basketball program has signed Greater Houston area point guard Jordan Ivy-Curry, a standout from La Marque High School, to a National Letter of Intent, it was announced by Coach Steve Henson on Wednesday afternoon.
Ivy-Curry is a scoring machine out of La Marque, Texas, where he scored over 2,000 points in his high school career. Ivy-Curry, a 6-foot-2, 165-pounder, scored over 50 points in a game three times and had 40+ in five games as a senior in 2019-20.
"We are excited to have Jordan join our program," Henson said. "He is an accomplished high school player who led his team to a tremendous 30-plus win season. He can really fill it up and possesses a great skill set. Due to his work ethic and commitment to improve, he will have an opportunity to flourish in our system."
As a senior, Ivy-Curry averaged 31.5 points 6.9 assists, 5.9 rebounds and 4.8 steals per game, earning all-state (4A) and all-region honors from the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. He was a finalist for the Guy V. Lewis Award, presented to the top player in the city of Houston, and was named to theHoustonChronicleAll-Greater Houston First-Team.
Ivy-Curry was named District 24-4A MVP as a senior and led the Cougars to the district championships, sporting a sparkling 32-7 record.
As a junior, Ivy-Curry averaged 22.3 points, 9.5 assists, 6.8 rebounds and 5.0 steals per game for La Marque High School.
He is the fourth player signed for the 2020-21 season by the Roadrunners, joining mid-year enrollee Eric Parrish, a 6-6 wing transfer from Nevada, who joined the roster in January and practiced during the 2019-20 season. In addition to Parrish and Ivy-Curry, UTSA inked 6-6 Australian forward Lachlan Bofinger, who is prepping at Montverde Academy (Fla.), and Houston area guard Jaja Sanni, a 6-4 standout out of Clear Lake High School.
