DALLAS – Mikayla Woods was named the Conference USA Co-Freshman of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday. She shares the weekly award with Rice's Lauren Schartz.
This is the second time Woods has received this award.
The freshman averaged 17 points and seven rebounds in the first week of conference play. She posted a 50 percent shooting average and was 53.6 percent from the free throw line. Woods recorded 23 points against the Owls and scored 11 points against the Panthers, all in the second half.
The Pflugerville, Texas, native ranks sixth in score and is tied for 15th in rebounding in conference games. She leads the team in scoring average, field goal attempts, free throw attempts and made and steals.
In her first season as a Roadrunner, she's averaging 14.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday when they travel to Louisiana Tech.
