UTSA Football Spring 2019 walk-on tryout information

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA Football program has announced information and procedures for its Spring 2019 walk-on tryouts, which will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Football Practice Fields.

Roster spots will be awarded to deserving individuals who are in compliance with UTSA, Conference USA and NCAA rules and regulations. Walk-ons must have completed the process and been selected by the coaches based on performance at the open walk-on tryout.

The tryout will consist of speed and agility drills, as well as position-specific skill evaluations with UTSA coaches, who will post the results of the tryout.

In order to participate in the walk-on program, YOU MUST BE ENROLLED AT UTSA FOR THE CURRENT SPRING 2019 SEMESTER AND SATISFY ALL OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

Walk-on Procedure and Checklist
(All forms and related materials are due to the UTSA Football Office by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15.)
 
1. You must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours at UTSA for the Spring 2019 semester.
 
2. All students must be registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center (formerly the NCAA Clearinghouse) and you must be eligible according to NCAA guidelines. This may be completed by visiting https://web3.ncaa.org/ecwr3/.
 
3. Complete and submit the online walk-on form to the UTSA Football office (visit https://goutsa.com/sb_output.aspx?form=21 to fill out).
 
4. Download, complete and submit the Walk-on Tryout Clearance Form to the UTSA Football office. Both the head coach and athletic trainer must sign the form before bringing it to the Athletics Compliance Office.
 
5. When the above three things are complete, you must completely fill out the program's medical packet, which can be downloaded at ATS User Manual. You must have your medical insurance card with you in order to upload a picture of the front and back.
 
6. Download and complete the Forms to Bring to Physician. This must be printed and taken to your physician to be completed during your pre-participation physical. This physical must be completed by an MD or DO. It cannot be completed by a nurse, chiropractor, or physician's assistant. 
 
7. Download and complete the Quest Labs Sickle Cell Test, which is a mandatory blood test that must be done prior to participation in NCAA regulated events.  
 
8. A highlight and best game DVD of your high school senior season will be due in the football office with the medical packet by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15.
