SAN ANTONIO -- The UTSA men's tennis team will hit the road for the Conference USA Showcase, hosted by Rice at the George R. Brown Tennis Center. UTSA will face UAB on Friday at 10 a.m. and Southern Miss on Saturday at 2 p.m.
UTSA (11-7) has five matches remaining in the regular season, including four straight on the road before returning for a home finale vs. UIW on April 16.
The Roadrunners own a 55-36 record in singles and a 26-20 mark in doubles as a team.
Sophomore Javier Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) leads the team with 13 wins in singles, including a 10-2 record in the No. 3 spot in the lineup. Junior Juri Reckow (Hamburg, Germany) owns an 11-5 record in singles, with Joao Ceolin (Palotina, Brazil) and Javier Gonzalez (San Fernando, Chile) each have a 7-6 record.
Freshman Alan Sanson (Santiago, Chile) owns an 8-5 record in singles, with Patrick Poestinger (Ennsdorf, Austria) sporting a 4-3 record in singles. Kai Breitbach (Kaarst, Germany) is 5-10, including 14 matches in the lead role in the lineup.
In doubles, Ceolin and Reckow own a team-leading 10-6 record. Brietbach and Sanson are 6-7, with Poestginer and Rodriguez sporting a 6-4 record. Leon Hein (Hamburg, Germany) is 2-0 in his doubles matches with Rodriguez.
