IRVING, Texas —
UTSA place-kicker Jared Sackett has been named Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the win against Texas State, the league office announced Monday.

Sackett booted three field goals, all from 40-plus yards, and made both extra-point attempts to help lead the Roadrunners to a 25-21 victory over the Bobcats in the H-E-B I-35 Showdown on Saturday night at the Alamodome. The sophomore, who is on the Lou Groza Award watch list, was a perfect 3-for-3, including splitting the uprights from 40 yards twice in the first half before connecting from 44 in the fourth quarter. Sackett matched his career high of three field goals in a game and is now 6-of-7 on the season with five coming from 40-or-more yards.

It marked the second weekly award for Sackett, who was named C-USA Special Teams Player of the Week on Nov. 20, 2017, after he made all three attempts, including the game winner from 40, in the 9-7 victory against Marshall.
