Track & field to send 10 to Howie Ryan Invitational

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA indoor track & field will send 10 student-athletes to Friday's University of Houston-hosted Howie Ryan Invitational.
 
The event
The one-day meet, which serves as UTSA's final tune-up before the 2018 Conference USA Indoor Championships, will be held at the Cougar's Yeoman Fieldhouse. UTSA's time at the event will start at 11 a.m. with the women's long jump. The first track event for the Roadrunners will be the 60m hurdles with the women's prelims preceding the men's at 1 p.m.

Representing the Roadrunners
Four UTSA women and six men will represent the Roadrunners in the Space City. Victoria Rausch will compete in the 60m hurdles as she seeks to improve on her team-leading 8.59 time. Devall Harris and Byron Taylor are scheduled for the 60m hurdles and 60m dash, respectively. Harris holds a season-best time of 8.65 in the hurdles, while Taylor will run the 60m for the first time this season.
 
Danielle Spence will compete in both the long and triple jumps. The frosh holds a season-best distance of 4.96m in the long jump. The triple jump appearance will be her first as a collegian.
 
Britton Chapman and Caroline Bellows are scheduled for the women's pole vault and Kyle Real the men's. Chapman and Bellows have season-best clearances of 3.47m. Real's season-best cleared height currently stands at 4.57m.
 
Steven Thomas, Derek Fenton and Kelsey Benoit are each slated for the men's shot put. Benoit will make his season debut in the event, while Fenton and Thomas will attempt to better their respective season's top marks of 15.86m and 14.73m.
