LUBBOCK, Texas – The UTSA track & field teams completed the Texas Tech Red Raider Invitational with three podium showings to go along with 21 top-eight finishes on Friday, Jan. 19.
Patrick Prince, a junior, picked up his first event title of the season with a 7.97 in the 60m hurdles. Prince ran an 8.15 in the preliminaries to advance to the finals based on time. Prince's winning time is 0.16 off his school-record effort at last season's Fastrack Last Chance Invitational, ranks second in Conference USA and sixth in the nation.
Junior Mia Hicks earned the Roadrunners' first top-three effort of the event with a third-place showing in the weight throw. The junior uncorked a personal-best 16.74m (54' 11.25") hurl on her first attempt of the day. The mark ranks fifth on the UTSA all-time list and 10th-best in C-USA this season.
Vasha Sheriff took the silver medal in the men's 400m, crossing the line in 47.19. Jennifer Arinze was the second collegian and fifth overall finisher in the women's 400m with a season-best time of 56.13.

In the women's pole vault, both Caroline Bellows and Britton Chapman cleared 3.47m (11' 4.25"). The marks are tied for the fifth-best in C-USA and improves Chapman's career-best.
The women's 200m saw De'Stini Henderson run the fifth-quickest time in Conference USA with a 24.66, which was good for 11th overall and eight among the collegians.
The men's long jump featured a pair of top-five Roadrunner finishes in reigning C-USA Male Field Athlete of the Week Adrian Riley and running back turned track athlete Brett Winnegan. Riley placed fourth with a leap of 7.26m (23' 10") on his first attempt of the day. Like Riley, Winnegan, whose 7.14m (23' 5.25") jump placed fifth in the 24-competitor field, also posted his best distance of the day on his first attempt. Riley's mark ties for third on the C-USA performance list, while Winnegan's ranks fourth.
The Roadrunner 4x400m relay teams closed the day on the track. The women's quartet of Ariel Watson, Jennifer Arinze, Sierra Andres and Christy Gilbert clocked a 3:53.91, which was good for seventh at the meet and fifth on the Conference USA leaderboard.
