IRVING, Texas— The American Athletic Conference officially announced the 2024 American Women's Basketball Championship seedings on Wednesday, with UTSA earning the fourth seed and qualifying for a double bye. The event will span five days in Fort Worth, Texas, and the squads will battle for an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament at Dickies Arena.
The Roadrunners (16-13, 10-8 AAC) concluded their regular season on Tuesday with a 60-52 victory over Rice at the Convocation Center. That win allowed them to reach 16 triumphs for the first time since the 2014-15 campaign. The victory also allowed them to break out of a six-way tie for the fourth spot and propelled the 'Runners to their highest conference finish since finishing fourth among Conference-USA in 2014-15.
UTSA will begin its tournament run on Monday at 2 p.m. C.T., as it faces either No. 5 seed South Florida, No. 13 seed Wichita State, or No. 12 seed Florida Atlantic, depending on the outcomes in earlier rounds. Should they advance, the Runners will compete in the semifinals on Tuesday at 6 p.m., and the championship game will be on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Fans wishing to watch UTSA in the tournament may purchase an all-session ticket starting at $90, and individual session tickets are priced at $19. All session tickets may be purchased here, and individual session tickets can be found here.
If you can't make it to Dickies Arena, the quarter and semifinals of the tournament will be broadcast live on ESPN+, and the final will air on ESPNU. Neal Raphael will deliver the radio call for all UTSA contests in the greater San Antonio area on The Bull 93.3 FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio app.
