McLay added to 2023-24 women’s tennis roster

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA women's tennis head coach Ki Kroll has announced the addition of Cincinnati transfer Cassie McLay to the 2023-24 roster.

A native of Melbourne, Fla., McLay will join the Roadrunners for her final year of eligibility as a graduate transfer. She spent the last three seasons at former American Athletic Conference member Cincinnati. During her time with the Bearcats, she racked up 16 wins in singles action, mostly playing at the No. 2 spot. In doubles play, she saw 20 wins at the first court. Off the court, McLay earned CSC Academic All-District and ITA All-Academic Team during the 2022-23 year. 
 
Prior to Cincinnati, she spent her freshman season at Appalachian State where she totaled five doubles wins at the first court and four singles wins during the shortened 2019-20 year. She was named to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List during that year. 
 
She is the daughter of Kim and Patrick McLay and has five siblings – Sean, Ryan, Brendon, Shannon and Kyle. She will be joining the Roadrunners this fall and plans on pursuing her master's degree in biotechnology.
