UTSA Athletics honors student-athletes at The Rowdys on Wednesday night

SAN ANTONIO —UTSA Athletics honored its student-athletes at The Rowdys on Wednesday night at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

Student-athletes were able to experience a "blue carpet" entrance for photos, a reception and the annual awards ceremony before having the amusement park to themselves to enjoy the various rides and entertainment.

The awards show featured a few special presentations.

Hailey Atwood from the UTSA women's basketball program was honored as one of five finalists for Team Impact Teammate of the Year for her devotion to Mia and her family. For more on her story, please visit https://www.teamimpact.org/2023-teammate-of-the-year/.

Dr. Gregg Michel, UTSA Faculty Athletics Representative, was surprised with a special presentation from the National Football Foundation (NFF) and Fidelity Investments to honor him for his ongoing leadership and commitment to support student-athletes. Launched in 2011, the NFF Faculty Salutes are an extension of the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Awards Program that provides postgraduate scholarships for college football's elite student-athletes, including UTSA senior Ahofitu Maka, who was a finalist for the 2022 William V.
