Volleyball announces 2019 schedule

SAN ANTONIO – Coming off a second-place finish in Conference USA in 2018, UTSA volleyball has released its 2019 schedule which features 10 home dates at the Convocation Center. 
 
UTSA will host 10 home matches as part of 25 regular-season dates under coach Laura Neugebauer-Groff, who is UTSA's winningest coach in her 18th year. 
 
The Roadrunners will open their schedule with a scrimmage on Aug. 22 at UIW, before kicking off their regular-season schedule with a trio of matches at the SMU Doubletree Invitational in Dallas. UTSA will face Stephen F. Austin on Aug. 30 at 10 a.m. before wrapping up the day vs. host SMU at 7:30 p.m. UTA will conclude the weekend vs. Bradley on Aug. 31. 
 
The Roadrunners will open their home slate with the UTSA Classic, featuring Maryland, Houston and UTRGV at the Convocation Center from Sept. 6-7. 
 
UTSA ventures to Tulsa's tournament on Sept. 13-14, including Houston Baptist and SIU Edwardsville. The Roadrunners travel up I-35 to face Texas State in the 2019 Creeds & Crests Classic. UTSA faces the Bobcats on Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. before facing Sam Houston State on Sept. 20 and George Washington at 11 a.m. on Sept. 21. 
 
The Roadrunners host Charlotte in the league lidlifter on Sept. 27 and UTEP on Sept. 29. UTSA hits the road at Rice (Oct. 4) and UTEP (Oct. 6) before hosting Louisiana Tech (Oct. 11) and UAB (Oct. 13). UTSA travels to Southern Miss (Oct. 18) and WKU (Oct. 20), hosting Marshall (Oct. 27), before a swing through the sunshine state at FAU (Nov. 1) and FIU (Nov. 3). Middle Tennessee (Nov. 10) and Rice (Nov. 14) enter The Convo to conclude the home slate, before UTSA travels to face North Texas (Nov. 16) in the regular-season finale.  

UTSA is coming off a 19-8 season and an 11-3 record in Conference USA play in 2018. The Roadrunners return a bevy of talent from its 19-win roster, including 2018 C-USA Freshman of the Year Kirby Smith, who averaged 3.00 kills and 2.93 digs per set. Seniors Brianna McCulloch and Kara Teal will help anchor a lineup that also returns sophomore Hannah Lopez and senior Montse Castro. Emily Ramirez, Lydia Niebla, Skyeler Embry, Mia Perales, Madelin McKay and Mia Ybarra give UTSA 11 returning letterwinners.
