Women's basketball hosts No. 24 Rice for final home game

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team closes its regular season on hosting No. 24 Rice on March 7 at 7 p.m.
 
UTSA and Rice are meeting for the 20th time in program history and second time this season. UTSA leads the series 10-9. The last meeting between the two teams was Jan. 10, 2019 when the Roadrunners played in Houston. The Owls are 3-5 at the Convocation Center and the last time they came to the Alamo City was Jan. 7, 2018 and lost 83-52.
 
The Roadrunners are 7-20 on the season and 2-13 in C-USA action and led by Marie Benson, averaging 15.6 points and 10.6 rebounds per game and Tija Hawkins, who's averaging 12.8 points and 5.7 rebounds. UTSA is playing for the final spot in the conference tournament, which takes place March 13-16 in Frisco at The Star.
 
Rice is 24-3 overall and undefeated in conference with a perfect 15-0 record. The Owls are led by Erica Ogwumike (16.1 points and 10.9 rebounds) and Nancy Mulkey (12.8 points and 5.8 rebounds).
 
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Lincoln Rose as play-by-play and Van Chancellor as the color analyst.
