SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's soccer team will host TCU in its final non-conference match of the season on Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the UTSA Recreation Sports Complex.
UTSA (5-4) enters the contests averaging 3.33 goals per outing, a mark that ranks seventh in the country. Junior Taylor Padia and freshmen Laylla da Cruz and Maria Jose Rojas lead the team with four winners apiece.
Rojas' 13 points rank third in the Southland Conference and it paces an offense attack that leads the league in six different offensive categories (goals, goals per game, shots, assists, assists per game and points).
The Horned Frogs (4-4-1) have been shut out in each of their four losses, including a 1-0 setback at Mississippi last Sunday. Juniors Jordan Calhoun and Kaylie Garcia lead the squad with three goals on the season while senior Chelsea Cody tops the team in assists. Meanwhile, The TCU defense has blanked three opponents this season and is allowing a little more than one-and-a-half goals per match (1.56). Head coach Dan Abdalla is in his sixth season and he owns a 47-48-7 record.
The Roadrunners never have beaten TCU and have been shut out in three of the four all-time meetings, including a 1-0 loss last season in Fort Worth.
