Lockwood named Aerospostale/SLC Hitter of the Week

Trent Lockwood

FRISCO ? Junior Trent Lockwood was named the Areopostale/Southland Conference Hitter of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. It is the second weekly honor for the first baseman this season.

Lockwood led an offensive charge that was nothing short of spectacular this weekend, as the Roadrunners rolled to an impressive three-game sweep against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (12-0, 24-11, 15-10). The 51 runs scored easily broke the school-record for a three-game series (41, two times) and the Groesbeck native hit .571 (8-14) with eight runs scored, a pair of doubles, three home runs and nine RBIs. He also registered an eye-popping 1.357 slugging percentage (19 total bases) and reached base at a .600 clip. Lockwood had at least two hits in all three contests, including a career-high four on Saturday, and also left the yard and drove home three runs in each of the victories.

He continues to lead UTSA in nearly every offensive category this season: batting average (.379), hits (72), multi-hit games (26), doubles (18/t-No. 5 UTSA single-season chart), homers (11/t-No. 5 UTSA single-season list), RBIs (50), multi-RBI contests (13), total bases (129), slugging percentage (.679) and on-base percentage (.442).

UTSA (30-18, 20-4 SLC) returns to action on Friday when it begins a three-game league series at Nicholls State.
