SAN ANTONIO — Roadrunners take sixth American Athletic Conference series win in their 17-7 win over Memphis on Saturday, Apr. 26 at Roadrunner Field in San Antonio, Texas.

In the first, the Roadrunners took the lead as Mason Lytle led off the game on a single to center field. Lytle was able to reach second on a wild pitch and was then brought home on a fielding error that allowed Norris McClure to reach. With McClure on the basepaths, Ty Hodge picked up his second homer of the weekend to put UTSA up 3-0.
In the fourth, Memphis got a run on the board on an RBI double. They were then able to tie the game in the fifth on a two-run home run.
The lead did not last long as Hodge was able to reach on a fielder’s choice and scored Lytle, who reached on a single. With Hodge on second, Garrett Gruell singled up the middle to score Hodge. Detlefsen singled up the middle, advancing the pinch runner, Diego Diaz, to third. With runners on first and third, UTSA put on a double steal, which allowed Diaz to score from third, putting UTSA up 7-3.
In the sixth, Stucky reached on a fielder’s choice, which allowed Caden Miller to score as he was standing just 90 feet away. With two aboard, Hodge hit a double to right center, allowing both runners to score, giving UTSA a 10-3 lead.
In the seventh, Memphis added two runs on a homer and a sacrifice fly. The Roadrunners answered in the bottom half as Lytle hit a three-run home run that scored James Taussig, who reached on a double, and Miller, who reached on a walk.
In the eighth, Memphis homered once again and scored their second run of the inning on a ground out to give them seven runs in the ballgame.
UTSA answered once again as Diaz doubled down the left field line to score McClure, who had singled to right field prior. Drew Detlefsen drew a walk to put two runners on before Taussig hit a home run over the center field wall to end the game, putting UTSA up 17-7 and ending the game on a run-rule.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Lytle went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for his 23rd multi-hit game and 14th multi-RBI game.
- Hodge had two hits and six RBIs for his 14th multi-hit game and fifth multi-RBI game.
- Taussig recorded two hits and three RBIs, notching his 10th multi-hit game and 11th multi-RBI game.
- Lytle has reached base safely in 22 consecutive games.
- Andrew Stucky has reached base safely in 20 consecutive games.
