UTSA travels to UAB on Wednesday

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team is traveling east to face UAB on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. at Bartow Arena.
 
The Roadrunners are coming into this matchup 6-19 overall and 3-11 in conference after a 59-49 win over Louisiana Tech on Feb. 19. The Roadrunners controlled the score for most of the game, leading for three of the four quarters against the Lady Techsters. Elyssa Coleman led UTSA in scoring with 15 points and grabbing 10 boards. Jadyn Pimentel was the second Roadrunners to score in double digits with 10 points.
 
Lapraisjah Johnson now leads the Roadrunners in scoring for the season with 213 points after an eight-point performance against Louisiana Tech. Pimentel follows closely behind with 212 points. Queen Ulabo has recorded a team-leading 134 rebounds this season, grabbing 60 offensive and 74 defensive boards. Pimentel continues to lead UTSA in assists with 76 and steals with 68 swipes. Coleman has a team-high 29 blocked shots this season.

The Blazers gear up for the home matchup after a 60-55 loss to Rice on Feb. 21 to put them at 13-12 overall and 6-8 in C-USA action this season.
 
Zakyia Weathersby leads the Blazers in scoring with 379 points, averaging 15.2 per game. Weathersby has also recorded a season-high 282 rebounds, with 104 offensive and 178 defensive grabs, and a team-leading 47 blocks. Maria Roters leads UAB with 70 assists and 20 swipes this season.
 
Last Meeting
This is the second matchup of the season. UTSA claimed the last game with a 68-60 overtime win over UAB on Jan. 1, 2022. This is the 11th all-time meeting between the two teams. The Blazers lead the series 7-3.
