Men's tennis signs Sanson for 2018-19 season

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA head men's tennis coach Rodrigo da Silva announced on Tuesday that he has signed Alan Sanson to a National Letter of Intent. Sanson will join the Roadrunners for the 2018-19 season.

"I am very excited to a player like Alan to the team," da Silva said. "He plays with a lot of passion and desire. He will be an important addition to our team and we are looking forward to start working with him."

Sanson, a native of Santiago, Chile, advanced to the quarterfinals in singles play and semifinals in doubles action at the Vendimia Cup. He also made an appearance at the Round of 16 in Copa FTCH in his native Chile. Sanson earned a Round of 32 berth in Copa Paineras. He was a semifinalist at grade 4 ITF in singles play and won two grade 5 ITF doubles titles. Additionally, he appeared in six quarterfinals in ITF for singles play.

UTSA completed the 2018 campaign with a 13-12 record. Joao Ceolin led the Roadrunners with a 13-7 overall record in singles play, while Kai Breitbach had a 12 victories and Javier Gonzalez and Juri Reckow finished with 11 wins apiece.
