Men's tennis suffers 5-2 setback at Middle Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A day after earning its first win of the spring season, UTSA dropped a 5-2 decision to Middle Tennessee on Sunday at the Adams Tennis Complex.

The Roadrunners (1-3) lost at the first and third positions of doubles play to fall behind early.

The Blue Raiders (5-1) stretched their lead to 3-0 with victories and Nos. 1 and 6 singles.

UTSA earned its first point of the match at the fourth singles spot, as Javier Gonzalez posted a 6-3, 7-5 win over Chris Edge.

Gian Issa then handed Joao Ceolin a 6-3, 6-4 setback at the fifth position to take a 4-1 lead and clinch the contest.

Kai Breitbach earned the Roadrunners' other tally at No. 3 singles, rallying from a first-set loss to record a 3-6, 6-3, 2-1 (10-2) victory.

UP NEXT
UTSA will return home to host Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday, Feb. 2. The non-conference match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center. It will serve as UTSA's home opener since last Sunday's tilt with Denver was canceled due to inclement weather.FINAL RESULTS
