‘Runners fall to Golden Hurricane, 2-1

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA softball team suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tulsa in American Athletic Conference action at Roadrunner Field on Saturday.

The Roadrunners (20-30, 5-18 The American) fell to the Golden Hurricane (20-28, 8-15 The American), with freshman Reagan Stoudt (1-8) getting the loss and Brinly Maples (5-6) the win.

At the plate, sophomore Kalee Rochinski recorded her second home run of the season, while junior Katia Reyes went 2-for-3.

Rochinski got the game going with a solo home run in the bottom of the second, and Tulsa answered in the top of the third with a run of their own tying the contest. The Golden Hurricane then added another in the fifth to gain a 2-1 advantage.

UTSA was unable to spark a comeback and now eyes a series victory in a Sunday rubber match beginning at 11 a.m. The contest represents the final home game of the season, and a Senior Day ceremony will follow the competition.
