UTSA set for All-American Intercollegiate

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men’s golf team will travel to Humble, Texas, to play in the All-American Intercollegiate, which will be held on Monday-Tuesday, March 18-19, at the Golf Club of Houston (par 72/7,067 yards).

The Roadrunners will bring a lineup of Hunter Bott, Brock Blais, David Harrison, Walker Franklin and Bryson Thurston, while Houston native Christian Rodriguez will play as an individual.

UTSA will compete against Arkansas State, No. 40 Baylor, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Lamar, Louisiana, Memphis, Rice, Sam Houston, Southern Miss, Texas State, No. 6 Texas Tech, No. 49 UNLV, UTRGV and Yale.

The field will play 36 holes on Monday and the final round is scheduled for Tuesday.

This will mark the Roadrunners’ ninth appearance in the All-American Intercollegiate. UTSA finished 17th at last year’s event behind a 33rd-place tie from Harrison. The Roadrunners’ top showing was a tie for fifth in 2020.

UTSA placed 14th in its last outing at The Hayt in March 9-11 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Bott registered his fifth top-20 finish of the season after carding a 3-over-par 219 (74-73-72) to tie for 18th.

Bott paces the Roadrunners with a 71.43 stroke average and a trio of top 10s, including a runner-up showing at The Clerico after firing an 8-under 202 (68-68-66). The senior from Montgomery has turned in 10 par-or-better scorecards, including seven sub-70 rounds, in 2023-24.

Harrison owns a 73.74 scoring mark and a pair of top 20-placements during his final campaign. The Byron Nelson High School product recorded his top finish of 14th at The Carolina Cup last fall and opened the season with back-to-back 3-over 54-hole totals at the Valero Texas Collegiate and William H. Tucker Intercollegiate.

Blais has registered a 74.0 stroke average in his debut season. The Ponte Vedra Beach native recorded his top finish of 20th at the Bentwater Invitational earlier this spring in Montgomery, Texas.

Franklin, a junior transfer, has accumulated a 76.43 average in five tournaments, while Thurston, a senior transfer, owns a 77.82 mark in four events. Rodriguez has appeared in a pair of competitions and posted a 78.33 average.
