Muminovic named ITA Scholar-Athlete; UTSA receives All-Academic Team honors

TEMPE, Ariz. – For the fifth consecutive season, UTSA men's tennis has a student-athlete receiving national academic honors, as Danijal Muminovic has been named a Scholar-Athlete by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). In addition to Muminovic's individual honors, the Roadrunners also garnered All-Academic Team honors.

After picking up his first following the 2021-22 school year, Muminovic earns his second straight ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades, appearing among the 959 NCAA Division I Men's student-athletes to receive honors for the 2022-23 school year.

In order to be eligible for ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, student-athletes had to have a 3.5+ GPA for the academic year.

A 2023 sophomore at UTSA and a native of Tuzla, Bosnia, Muminovic recorded a 3.91 GPA for the academic year within his Honors College double major in Economics and Marketing – delivering a 3.93 cumulative GPA to date.

A member of the UTSA President's List and Dean's List throughout his time commanding the fifth court for UTSA, Muminovic has been raking in the academic awards this year. In addition to earning the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal and his spot on the C-USA Honor Roll, he was named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators and was named to the six-member Conference USA All-Academic Team.

Helping the Roadrunners to a history-making 2023 campaign, Muminovic registered a 13-7 singles record on the year, coming up at 9-3 on Court No. 5. He went 7-2 in his final 10 matches of the year. He ranked second for UTSA in singles victories and logged a streak of 11 consecutive wins – recording 10 of those in straight sets. On the year, he delivered UTSA's initial singles point in four matches, while closing out the victory-clinching point in two others – helping 42nd-ranked UTSA to an 18-7 record and the program's first NCAA Championships At-Large selection and fifth NCAA appearance.

As a team, the Roadrunners earned their second ITA All-Academic Team nod under head coach Sergey Avdeyev among the 162 squads recognized in 2023. UTSA finished the year with a team GPA of 3.277, while also reaching the conference championship match and the NCAA postseason in their final season in Conference USA.
