UTSA men’s 4x200-meter relay collects C-USA weekly award

DALLAS — The UTSA 4x200-meter relay team has been earned the Conference USA Outdoor Male Track Athlete of the Week award, the league office announced Tuesday.

The Roadrunners' 4x2 relay team of Brice Chabot, Dennis Phillips, Trevion McCalla and Mike Roth smashed the school record by more than two seconds in a bronze-medal performance last Saturday at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. The quartet clocked a time of 1:21.49 to cross in third place behind Georgia's meet record 1:20.22 clocking and Texas, which posted a 1:20.97.

UTSA's 1:21.49 clocking eclipsed the previous school standard of 1:23.67 set at the 2017 Texas Relays. The group now stands 13th on the all-time collegiate best performers list and their time ranks 31st on the all-time list of collegiate 4x200m relay times available on the USTFCCCA's record database.

Alexander Slinkman of Rice was named C-USA Outdoor Male Field Athlete of the Week, while Charlotte's Maya Singletary and Riley Felts swept the weekly honors on the women's side. The C-USA Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear.

The Roadrunners are scheduled to return to action on April 12-15 at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California, and at the Cactus Cup on April 15 in Kingsville, Texas.
