Miller garners C-USA Field Athlete of the Week accolades

DALLAS — UTSA sophomore All-American Jemuel Miller has been named Conference USA Indoor Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Miller collected his second career weekly award after winning the long jump and finishing second in the triple jump at the Scarlet Knights Open last weekend in New York City. The Barbados native leaped to an indoor personal-best distance of 7.63 meters (25-0.5) to claim gold in the long jump on Friday and move into second place on UTSA's all-time performers list.

On the following day, Miller logged a narrow runner-up showing in the triple jump with a mark of 15.40m (50-6.25), only four centimeters behind teammate Gabriel Binion's winning mark of 15.44m (50-8).

Miller currently leads C-USA and ranks 23rd in the nation in the triple jump with his season best of 15.73m (51-7.25), and he stands second in the league and 35th nationally in the long jump.

This marks the third C-USA Athlete of the Week honor earned by a Roadrunner this year, as Oreoluwa Adamson and Christiaan Le Roux swept the Field accolades on Jan. 17.

Charlotte's Justin Leaston and Maya Singletary swept the C-USA Indoor Track Athlete of the Week certificates, while KeAyla Dove of North Texas claimed the Female Field Athlete of the Week honor. The C-USA Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear.

The Roadrunners will have one final tune-up for the Conference USA Indoor Championships when they travel to Houston for the Howie Ryan Invitational this Friday, Feb. 10.
