UTSA to head to New York City for Scarlet Knights Open

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA track & field teams will travel to New York City to compete in the Scarlet Knights Open on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 3-4, at Armory Track.
 
The two-day meet will get underway at 9 a.m. CT Friday with the weight throw while running events are slated to begin at 10 a.m. with the distance medley relay. Saturday's action will start with the shot put at 9 a.m. CT and the first track event — the 60-meter hurdles — is scheduled for 9:45 a.m.

This will mark the fourth consecutive week of action for the Roadrunners, who last competed on Jan. 27 at the Houston Invitational.
 
Amaya King led the way in Houston after collecting the silver medal in the women's shot put with a season-best mark of 15.06 meters (49-5), moving her into second place on UTSA's all-time performers list.
 
With the Conference USA Indoor Championships on the docket for Feb. 18-19, UTSA enters this weekend with a total of 37 marks that rank in the top eight in the league.
 
The UTSA women have registered 15 top-eight marks, headlined by All-American Ingeborg Gruenwald's league-leading long jump of 6.18 meters (20-3.5) and Oreoluwa Adamson's triple jump of 12.65m (41-6), which stands second.
 
The women also own three marks that rank in the national top 50, as Gruenwald is 22nd in the long jump, while Adamson ranks 38th in the long jump (6.10m/20-0.25) and 42nd in the triple.
 
The UTSA men boast 22 marks that currently sit in the top eight in C-USA. Mike Roth paces the circuit in the 400m with his top time of 47.37, while All-Americans Bashiru Abdullahi and Jemuel Miller sit atop the standings for the 60m hurdles (7.84a) and triple jump (15.73m/51-7.25), respectively.
 
Four Roadrunners rank in the top 50 nationally. Miller stands 19th in the triple jump, Abdullahi is 36th in the 60m hurdles, All-American Christiaan Le Roux ranks 41st in the long jump (7.54m/24-9) and Dennis Phillips sits 48th in the 200m (21.17a).
