UTSA starts spring campaign with road tests at No. 7 Texas and Oklahoma

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA head tennis coach Sergey Avdeyev is back for his fourth season at the helm of the Roadrunners' tennis program as the team is set to begin its spring campaign this weekend.
 
The spring roster features eight Roadrunners, seven of which were with the team in the fall and one, Auburn transfer Jackson Ross, who is new this semester. Most notably playing this spring are Sebastian Rodriguez and Alan Magadan. The pair teamed up to earn the #6 ITA ranking this fall for their performance at ITA Regionals/Nationals. Also playing this spring will be returners Miguel Alonso, Danijal Muminovic, Tomás Pinho, Garrett Skelly and Tiago Torres.
 
Series History
Texas - The Roadrunners and Longhorns have met 15 times with Texas claiming every single meeting. The two teams last met in 2022 when UTSA fell to Texas in Austin, 1-6.
 
Oklahoma - The Roadrunners and Sooners have met just once in both programs' history. The two teams met on March 10, 2021, when Oklahoma escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Roadrunners.
 
Up Next
UTSA will have a week off before returning to San Antonio to host both New Orleans and California Santa Barbara in its first home matches of the season. UTSA and New Orleans will play on Friday, February 3 while UTSA and UCSB will play on Sunday, February 5.
