UTSA heads to Boca Raton to face FAU

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA's baseball team is set to continue its six-game road trip this weekend as the Roadrunners travel to Boca Raton, Florida to face off with C-USA opponent FAU.

The series will be played over the March 25 weekend and features the C-USA preseason No. 5 team, FAU. FAU (14-8), was voted one spot higher than UTSA (12-8) was in the preseason poll.

The two squads share no common opponents, but FAU has quality wins over programs such as Minnesota, Michigan, Seton Hall and Southern Miss.

This will be the seventh series between the two schools with the Owls holding a 4-2 series advantage and a 13-7 overall advantage over UTSA. The Roadrunners are 1-5 against FAU in games played in Boca Raton.

UTSA enters the weekend series coming off of a midweek loss against the Baylor Bears. The Roadrunners led down 2-1 until the bottom of the ninth when Baylor put two on the board and used a walk-off, bases-loaded walk to win the game.

The Roadrunners used six different pitchers in the game and limited Baylor to just six hits on the day. The UTSA offense produced five hits and scored both runs in the top of the second inning thanks to RBIs by both Garrett Poston and Jonathan Tapia.

The Owls enter this weekend's series coming off of a weekday loss against Miami. Florida Atlantic is 1-4 in its last five games played.
