UTSA wraps up regular season at North Texas and Rice

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball team is on the road this week to face North Texas on March 3 at 6:30 p.m. and Rice on March 5 at 2 p.m. to wrap up the regular season.
 
The Roadrunners start their road trip 6-20 overall and 3-12 in conference after a 57-50 loss at UAB on Feb. 23. Two Roadrunners scored in the double digits against the Blazers. Elyssa Coleman led the team with 12 points with Deborah Nwakamma following with 11. Jadyn Pimentel grabbed a team-leading seven boards and Chantal Govan led the Roadrunners with three assists.
 
Pimentel leads UTSA in scoring with 218 points this season, averaging 8.4 per game. Pimentel has recorded a team-leading 78 assists and 72 steals. She also continues to lead the conference in stills this season. Queen Ulabo has a season-high 137 rebounds, grabbing 61 offensive and 76 defensive boards. Coleman leads the Roadrunners with 29 blocked shots.
 
Scouting North Texas
The Mean Green come into the matchup 14-11 overall and 8-7 in C-USA action after a 62-54 loss to Louisiana Tech on Feb. 26.
 
Quincy Noble leads the Mean Green in scoring with 360 points this season. Noble averages 14.4 points per game and has 16 blocked shots, along with 36 steals to lead the team. Madison Townley leads North Texas in rebounding with 187 boards this season, 79 offensive and 108 defensive. Jazion Jackson has a season-high 75 assists.
 
Scouting Rice
The Owls are now 11-12 and 6-9 in conference play after a 51-46 win at Southern Miss on Feb. 26. Rice has won four of its last five games in conference.
 
Ashlee Austin leads Rice in scoring with 378 points, averaging 16.4 per game. Malia Fisher has recorded a team-leading 192 rebounds this season with 59 offensive and 133 defensive. Fisher has a season-high 28 blocked shots for the Owls. Destiny Jackson leads the team in assists with 105 this season. Jackson is currently leading the team with 37 steals.
 
Last Meeting
This faceoff marks the 31st all-time meeting between the Roadrunners and the Mean Green. North Texas leads the series 19-11 after a 70-57 win on Feb. 5.
 
Rice leads the series between the two teams 12-11 after a 69-57 win on Jan. 2, 2021.
