Pirog tabbed C-USA Track Athlete of the Week

DALLAS — UTSA senior Andrew Pirog has been named Conference USA Indoor Male Track Athlete of the Week for his performance in the UTSA Invitational, the league office announced Wednesday.

Pirog opened his final outdoor campaign with a win in the 400-meter hurdles on March 20 at the UTSA Invitational in San Antonio. The San Antonio Reagan High School product circled the track in a time of 51.84 seconds, finishing ahead of Baylor's Elijah Gifford (52.67). His winning time was just shy of his personal best of 51.32, and he currently leads C-USA and ranks ninth in the nation in the event.

This marks the fifth time a UTSA athlete has been recognized this year, as Pirog joins indoor winners Bashiru Abdullahi (twice), Chante Dixon and Ingeborg Gruenwald.

The Roadrunners will travel to Austin for the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays this Thursday-Saturday, March 25-27, at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
