Holzmann paces Roadrunners on final day of Minnesota Invitational

WOODBURY, Minn. — Hannah Holzmann fired a 1-over-par 73 in the final round to help UTSA to a 12th-place finish at the weather-shortened Minnesota Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday at Prestwick Golf Club (par 72/6,297 yards).

Holzmann was steady with 15 pars and a birdie on the par-3 sixth to pace the Roadrunners over the final 18 holes. The sophomore from San Antonio bettered her opening-round score by two strokes and finished in a tie for 30th at 4-over 148.

Meanwhile, Nicole Polivchak was UTSA's top finisher after sharing 12th place at 1-over 145. The junior transfer followed her collegiate-best 2-under 70 on Monday with a 75 in the final round that featured four birdies, three on the front nine. Originally from Poland, the Sarasota, Fla., product led the Roadrunners with 10 birdies during the event to rank second in the field of 81 players.

Behind Polivchak and Holzmann, UTSA finished 12th in the team standings with a 600 (292-308), three shots ahead of Long Beach State, five better than Missouri and six in front of Kansas.

Ana Gonzalez tied for 59th with a 74-79—153, while Katia Mexsen and Camryn Carreon rounded out the UTSA lineup in 67th (73-82—155) and 79th (80-81—161), respectively.

The field was scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday, but play was delayed three times due to lightning on the opening day, with the last stoppage delaying the rest of the second round until Tuesday and canceling the originally scheduled third round.

Kentucky won the team title with a 577 and Georgia's Caterina Don claimed individual medalist honors with a 66-69—135.

The Roadrunners will return to the course on Sept. 16-17 when they travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship.
