Men's tennis to open fall campaign with split-squad action

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team will compete in two tournaments to open its fall campaign this weekend. Roadrunner Head Coach Rodrigo da Silva will send six players to the Contender Crossfit Islander Open in Corpus Christi and four others to the Midland Invite. Both events will take begin Friday and conclude two days later.

Seniors Christian Carrillo and John King, junior Gabriel Borunda, sophomores Patrick Poestinger and Leon Hein and freshman Gabriel Bugiga will travel to Corpus Christi for the split-squad action and compete in both doubles and singles brackets.

Meanwhile, sophomores Kai Breitbach, Igor Cantanhede and Juri Reckow will be joined by freshman Joao Ceolin at the Midland Invite.

UTSA returns eight letter winners from last year's squad and adds two freshmen to the fold this fall.

The Roadrunners will compete in seven fall events, including the UTSA Cup Oct. 13-15 in San Antonio, and the ITA Texas Regional Championships Oct. 19-22 in College Station.
