IRVING – Conference USA announced the recipients of its Sport Academic Awards for the 2016-17 academic school year and the UTSA women's basketball and women's golf teams were among the 17 squads honored on Tuesday.
The Sport Academic Award is given to the team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest GPA for the academic year.
UTSA's women's basketball team garnered its second-consecutive Sport Academic Award with a team GPA of 3.391.
The Roadrunners were led by Conference USA Academic Medal winners Carlie Heineman, Kasia Kiejdrowska, Billie Marlow and Tîmea Tóth.
Powered by C-USA Academic Medalists Julie Houston, Madison Kidd, Nikki Long, Becky McGeehan and Lara Weinstein, the women's golf team claimed the award with the third-highest GPA among the teams recognized at 3.748.
