May 22, 2006 Six Roadrunners named to All-Southland Conference teams
PLANO - Senior Lee Todseco and junior Josh Ruffin garnered first-team all-Southland Conference honors, while junior Michael McKennon, seniors J.R. Voyles and Noah Tritz and freshman Michael Rockett landed second team all-SLC accolades, announced Monday by the league office.
Ruffin (left) led the Roadrunners to their 36-19 and 20-10 records. He ranks third in the SLC with a 2.95 earned run average and second with eight wins to go along with three losses. Ruffin leads the SLC with 109.2 innings pitched, five complete games and four shutouts. The Humble, Texas, native tossed a complete-game, two hitter against the league's top hitting team in Lamar on March 18 in Beaumont.
Joining Ruffin on the first-team was Todesco (right) at first base. A senior from Buda, Texas, he is third in the league with a .373 average and has 49 RBI while starting all 55 games for the Roadrunners. His .539 slugging percentage derives from 12 doubles, six home runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, UTSA had four players named to second team all-SLC, with McKennon and Rockett at the outfield position, Voyles at second base and Tritz at pitcher. McKennon’s .371 batting average was second best on the team and ranked fifth in the SLC. His 11 home runs led the team and stands fourth in the league. Rockett’s .371 batting average tied for second on the squad. In his rookie season, Rockett belted five home runs and collected 32 runs batted in.
Voyles led the team with 49 runs scored and was third on the team with five homers. He also was second with 11 doubles and was fourth on the team with 64 hits. Tritz (left) was the last played to be named to the second team. The Spring, Texas, native posted an 8-0 record with eight saves this season. Tritz led the conference with his eight saves. Junior Ryan Saltzgaber (third base) and freshman James Keithley (outfield) earned honorable mention honors.
