UTSA to host Maryb S. Kauth Invitational this week

SAN ANTONIO — One week after winning the Chattanooga Classic, the UTSA women's golf team is back home to host the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational on Tuesday-Wednesday, April 5-6, at San Antonio Country Club (par 72/6,131 yards). Admission is free for spectators.

The Roadrunners will welcome Iowa, Middle Tennessee, Oral Roberts, Sam Houston, SMU, Texas State, UIW and No. 47 UNLV to their annual home tournament. The field will play 36 holes on Tuesday and 18 on Wednesday with 9 a.m. shotgun starts scheduled for both days.

Formerly called The Alamo Invitational, this will mark the 13th edition of the tournament, which was renamed in 2016 in honor of the late Maryb S. Kauth. This will mark the third time it will be held at San Antonio Country Club after previously being played at TPC San Antonio's Canyons Course in 2018 and Briggs Ranch Golf Club from its inception in 2009 through 2017.

UTSA finished second to Texas Tech at last year's Maryb S. Kauth Invitational behind top-10 finishes from Camryn Carreon (5th), Ana Gonzalez (T-6th) and Hannah Holzmann (T-8th). The Roadrunners have captured a pair of team titles at their home event, first in 2011 behind individual medalist Fabiola Arriaga and again in 2020.

The Roadrunners will look to carry the momentum from last week's win at the Chattanooga Classic. Ana Gonzalez tied for runner-up honors with a 4-under-par 214 and was named Conference USA Golfer of the Week for her performance. The super senior carded back-to-back rounds of 2-under 70 on the opening two days and then posted an even-par 72 that was highlighted by a hole-in-one on the par-3 17th hole that helped the Roadrunners rally past North Florida for the crown.

Carreon paces the UTSA roster with a 73.63 stroke average and she owns four top-20 finishes in 2021-22. Gonzalez stands second with a 73.63 and has placed in the top 10 twice in her final campaign. Hannah Holzmann and Nicole Polivchak each carry a 74.67 mark into the week while Morgan Ellison will get the fifth nod in the lineup for the second time in her debut season.
