Hillyer, Kloza net a pair each in exhibition finale win

SAN ANTONIO – Sabrina Hillyer and Kendall Kloza each tallied a pair of goals to highlight an 8-0 UTSA soccer win over St. Mary's in its exhibition finale, on a rainy Sunday night at Park West Athletics Complex.
 
The Roadrunners wrapped up their 2021 preseason with a 2-0-1 record, including a 3-1 comeback win at UIW, a scoreless draw at Texas State on Thursday, and the eight-goal win on Sunday vs. crosstown Division II St. Mary's. 
 
UTSA netted four goals in each period, including the pair of tallies from Hillyer and Kloza. The Roadrunners also got goals from Anna Sutter, Deja Sandoval, Mikhaela Cortez and Britnney Campa. Lexi Bolton, Alex Granville and Kiran Singh each added assists. 

It took just 49 seconds into the match for the Roadrunners to take a lead, as Granville fired a cross from the far side into the box where Hillyer finished the goal in at the far post. 

In the fourth minute, Bolton lofted a corner into the box for Kloza, who headed it in for the two-goal advantage. 
 
UTSA struck again in the eighth minute, as Sutter swiped the ball in midfield and sent a long strike into the net at the far post. 
 
A 4-0 goal advantage came in the 36th minute as Sandoval found the ball in scrum in the 18-yard box, finishing it in at the far post. 

In the 48th minute, Hillyer struck again on goal from 25-yards out near the corner of the 18-yard box, finding net in at the near post. 
 
Singh lofted a corner into the box for Cortez in the 67th minute and Campa completed the scoring minutes later on a cross from Bolton into the box. 

The Roadrunners will open their 2021 season with a pair of stiff tests on the road in Stillwater, Okla., taking on No. 16 Oklahoma State on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN+, before facing Tulsa on Sunday in Stillwater.
