Roadrunners wrap up ICON Invitational on Tuesday

THE WOODLANDS, Texas — Nicole Polivchak finished in the top 50 to lead the UTSA women's golf team to a 13th-place showing at the ICON Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday at The Woodlands Country Club's Tournament Course (par 72/6,392 yards).
 
Polivchak posted an 8-over-par 224 to tie for 46th and pace the Roadrunners, who carded an 899 (296-304-299) to finish 13th, eight shots ahead of Texas State and just four behind Kennesaw State in a field that included six nationally ranked teams.
 
After opening with a 78 on Monday morning, Polivchak fired an even-par 72 in the second round and closed with a 74 on Tuesday. The junior transfer recorded four birdies in the final round and led UTSA with seven for the tournament.
 
Camryn Carreon was two shots behind her teammate in a tie for 51st with a 226. The freshman from San Antonio carded rounds of 73 and 78 before turning in a 75 that was highlighted by a pair of birdies on the back nine on the final day.
 
Hannah Holzmann ended up sharing 57th place. The sophomore from San Antonio posted one-shot improvements in her second and third rounds, capped by a 75 on Tuesday.
 
Ana Gonzalez and Madison Kidd finished as part of a tie for 59th with a 229. Gonzalez rode a team-best 39 pars to rounds of 76, 78 and 75, while Kidd's 54-hole event was headlined by a 2-under 70 in the opening round.
 
No. 5 Kent State captured the team title with a 10-under 854, followed by Purdue (861), No. 37 Texas A&M (864), top-ranked Texas (866) and TCU (872).
 
Tulsa's Lorena Tseng claimed individual medalist honors with a 7-under 209 (72-70-67).
 
The Roadrunners will return home to host the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational on March 10-11 at San Antonio Country Club.
