Miller and Breigan garner AAC Athlete of the Week honors

IRVING, Texas – The UTSA track and field teams swept the field event conference weekly awards for the third time in the 2023-24 season and second in the outdoor season as both Jemuel Miller and Ida Breigan were named American Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week for their respective performances at the Texas Invitational this past weekend in Austin.

Opening up UTSA’s top finishers for the week on Friday at the Texas Invitational, Frederikstad, Norway freshman Breigan registered another top mark in the women’s long jump, trailing only her own NCAA second-ranked career mark from two weeks ago in the AAC standings. Breigan finished second among collegiate competitors and third overall, hitting 6.65 meters (21-10) on her third pass. This is the fourth AAC weekly award and second of the outdoor season for the first-team All-American.

Finally getting into the swing of things in the outdoor season, Bridgetown, Barbados junior Miller knocked off the UTSA school record in the triple jump on Saturday with a 16.21m (53-2.25) measurement that placed him as the top collegiate performer in the meet and second overall. His skip was logged as the top distance in The American this season and the seventh-best measurement in the nation. This is the first AAC weekly award and fifth conference weekly award of his career for the two-time All-American.

The Roadrunners have no competition on the schedule this week but return to action at home in The American Outdoor Championships on May 10-12 at the Park West Athletics Complex.
