UCF transfer Sokol inks with UTSA Volleyball

She represents the fifth member of the signing class, joining Caroline Tredwell, Ally Tribe, Martina Franco, and Isabella Arroyave

SAN ANTONIO — On Tuesday, UTSA volleyball coach Carol Price-Torok officially announced the signing of Annika Sokol, who will join the Roadrunners following a freshman season at UCF.

Annika Sokol | 5-10 | S | Roxborough Park, Colorado | Heritage HS | UCF

After appearing primarily as a defensive specialist in 18 matches for a 17-12 UCF squad, Sokol will head to the Alamo City for the 2024 campaign. With the Knights, she recorded 68 digs, including a 17-dig performance against TCU on Oct. 26, 2024.

Prior to her stint in Orlando, Sokol was a standout performer at Heritage HS, collecting first-team all-conference honors in all four years. She was twice selected as team captain for the Eagles, was a two-time MVP, and a 2022 all-state second-team honoree. Sokol was recognized by Volleyball Magazine on their High School Mid-Season ION list in 2022 and was given her school's 2023 Distinguished Athlete award en route to a Hall of Fame selection. A triple-double machine, Sokol totaled 765 kills, 537 digs, 520 assists, and 116 blocks across her prep career. She also lettered in track, and clubbed with Colorado Juniors.

Sokol also performed well in the classroom, posting a 4.0 GPA that earned her a pair of academic all-state awards and a spot in the National Honor Society.

She is the daughter of Jonathan and Kristi Sokol and has one brother, Paul Sokol. Her mother competed collegiately with the Colorado State track program, qualifying for the 1996 Olympic Trials in the 400m hurdles. At UTSA, she plans to study health sciences with the goal of working in the medical field.

Head Coach Carol Price-Torok on Sokol:

“Annika is a feisty competitor and she will add immediate value to the gym culture we are continuing to create. She has been training and playing at a high level and we are excited to bring that experience to the offensive and defensive side of the game her at UTSA. Her speed and fiery nature are fun to watch and she will help make the game day atmosphere in the Convo exciting for the fans to watch.”
