SAN ANTONIO – UTSA baseball has added Jordan Lucks as its volunteer assistant coach for the 2021 season, it was announced by head coach Pat Hallmark.
"We're excited to add Jordan to our staff," Hallmark said. "Jordan will be coaching the outfielders and assisting with our offense. He brings energy and enthusiasm to practice every day. He will be a quality addition to our program. We've already seen his hard work in the preseason and we're thrilled he is on our staff."
Lucks joined the Roadrunners after spending the 2020 season at Parkland College [Ill.], where he ran the offense and served as the recruiting coordinator. Lucks' lone recruiting class at Parkland was ranked second in the nation among junior college schools by Perfect Game USA.
Prior to joining Parkland, Lucks spent two seasons on the coaching staff at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, where he worked directly with outfielders, coordinated the bullpen during games, and helped Islanders manage the day-to-day operations of the program.
"I am very thankful for Coach Hallmark for the opportunity to join such a strong coaching staff and proud program," Lucks said. "This program, and these coaches, have had a lot of success winning at the highest levels and I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute on a daily basis."
In his last coaching stop, Lucks was the offensive and recruiting coordinator at Parkland for the 2020 season, joining the program in August of 2019. While at Parkland, Lucks signed the second-best class in the junior college ranks according to Perfect Game. He directed the offensive attack and served as the third-base coach in game. Over the 13 games in 2020, Lucks directed the Cobras to 7.1 runs, 1.2 homers and 4.5 steals per game.
During the summer of 2020, Lucks served as the hitting coach for the KCL Gems in the Kernals Collegiate League in Illinois. While at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Lucks was the undergraduate assistant coach, working with the outfielders defensively and offense, assisting in practice execution and clubhouse management, and serving as the bullpen coach during the games.
The Roadrunners will open their 2021 season on Friday at Southland Conference powerhouse Sam Houston State on ESPN+.
